How a vane pump actually works
A slotted rotor turns inside an elliptical cam ring. Vanes sit in the rotor slots and are pushed outward by centrifugal force and pressure, sealing against the cam ring. As the cavity between vanes grows, fluid is drawn in; as it shrinks, fluid is pushed out.
Everything that wears is in that assembly: the cam ring, the rotor, the vanes and the bearing plates. The housing, shaft and cover are relatively unstressed. That is why a cartridge kit can restore a worn vane pump instead of replacing it, which is a large part of why these pumps stay in service for decades.

Eaton Vickers V and VQ series
The most widely installed vane pump family in India. The V10 and V20 cover light and medium duty; the 20V, 25V, 35V and 45V frames cover heavier industrial work; the VQ series offers higher pressure capability and better efficiency.

Tokimec SQP series

Veljan

Cross-referencing between series

- Displacement — flow in litres per minute equals displacement in cm³ per revolution times shaft rpm divided by 1000, adjusted for volumetric efficiency
- Pressure rating — your continuous working pressure must sit inside the substitute’s nominal rating, not its peak
- Mounting flange — SAE A, SAE B, SAE C or a proprietary pattern
- Shaft — splined, keyed or straight, and the correct diameter and length

Rebuild or replace?
Rebuild with a cartridge kit when the wear is progressive — falling flow, slow actuators, rising noise, system not reaching set pressure — and the housing bore, shaft and shaft bearing are undamaged.
Replace the whole pump when a vane has broken up and scored the housing, when the shaft or front bearing has failed, when the pump is already on its third cartridge, or when downtime cost makes the extra spend irrelevant.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can a Yuken PV2R replace a Vickers V-series pump?
In many installations yes, provided displacement, pressure rating, mounting flange, shaft type and rotation all match. Yashvi Hydraulics does this cross-reference regularly. Send the original model code and photographs of the mounting and we will confirm.
Why is my new vane pump noisy from day one?
Almost always cavitation from a restricted suction line, a blocked strainer, or oil that is too thick for the ambient temperature. Occasionally it is a pump running the wrong rotation. Check the suction side before assuming the pump is faulty.
Do you supply double and triple vane pumps?
Yes. Yashvi Hydraulics supplies single, double and treble configurations across all the series listed. On a double pump each stage carries its own code, so send both when enquiring.
Are Indian-made vane pumps as good as imported ones?
For general industrial duty on moderate pressure, good Indian-manufactured pumps perform well and cost considerably less.
