Hydraulic Pump Shaft
The pump shaft transmits drive torque from the motor or engine into the pump. Shafts fail through torsional overload, fatigue at the keyway or spline, or wear at the seal journal — and a worn seal journal will keep leaking however many new seals you fit.
Key Features
- Hardened and ground steel construction
- Precision-machined seal journal for leak-free sealing
- Available in splined, keyed and straight shaft types
- Manufactured to match original equipment dimensions
- Suitable for vane and piston pump series
Common Failure Causes
- Misalignment between motor and pump
- Excessive side load from direct belt or gear drive
- Torsional shock from rapid valve switching
- Coupling wear transmitting vibration into the shaft
If a shaft has failed, check alignment and coupling condition before fitting the replacement, or the new shaft will fail the same way.
